MEDICINE IN A BOX The software would aid doctors in prescription-writing

Here comes a new, home-grown computer software for the medicos. Developed by a Delhi-based doctor, the software enables doctors to write prescriptions, file reports and search for medical records electronically.

Called "Prescription Pad ", the software, as the name implies, is a prescription-writing tool brought out by Dr. Anil Vij. It has complete drug database with relation to Indian Pharmacopoeia and a feature to check drug interactions and safety parameters for every brand that a doctor writes for the patient. Dr.Vij says the software is handy for every prescribing doctor whether he is a general physician, surgeon, gynaecologist, ENT surgeon or gastroenterologist.Being a doctor himself, Dr. Vij says sometimes, a particular drug causes side effects in patients due to drug interactions or unwarranted drug prescription. He feels, "These kinds of side effects can be avoided using the software."

Apart from this, he says, "the software at the moment has complete diagnostic information about 1,500 common diseases along with their related investigations and differential diagnosis so that a clinician has complete information at his desktop while treating a patient."

In country like India, where not everyone can afford a specialist, this medical software, he says, will enable even a simple MBBS to treat some complex diseases with total confidence in the remotest of areas.

The purchase or the inquiry of the software can be done at dranilvij@yahoo.com and support@prescriptionpad.in or call us at (+91) 99900-30044

Mathrubhumi - English Translation

It is very difficult for a normal patient to read the names of the medicines in the prescription pad written by the doctor which contains a lot of crosses and cuttings. But now-a-days patients are curious to know about the medicines written by the doctors and the ingredients of the medicines. Here comes Dr. Anil Vij with his prescription pad software. In his words “with the stethoscope and medical tool box, the doctor’s table must include one computer with prescription pad software”.

The prescription pad software contains the most common 15, 00 diseases details, their causes, treatment for these diseases, medicines and also the information which helps in the analysis and confirmation of the disease. The prescription pad helps the doctor to give the appropriate medicine to the patient, as it contains around 11,000 brands and around 17, 00 drug monographs. When doctor enters the symptoms of the disease in the prescription pad at the time of checkup, the software displays the complete information and description of the disease. In this way doctor can confirm the disease.

This software can be useful in general medicine, gynaecology, surgery, E.N.T., cardiology and also in other various areas of medical science. This software also helps to make sure that the prescribed medicine does not have any side effects if given with other medicines for the multiple diseases the patient is suffering from. The prescription pad also makes sure that the prescribed medicine is safe in case of pregnancy, lactation, children, elderly, liver disease, kidney disease & pulmonary disease.

As the number of new diseases and medicines increase every minute, it is difficult for doctors to remember all this. Here comes the role of prescription pad medical software to help doctor with the updates. Moreover this software helps to make the reports of x-rays and vaccination schedule chats. The software maintains the case history of each patient. There is option to enable appointment alerts. It is possible to search the database by the disease name, name of the patient, date of checkup or address and one can study the similar case history.

The prescription pad is the result of long six years of hard work done by Dr. Anil Vij of Dr. Sunder Lal Memorial Hospital, Khanpur and his friend, Software Eng. Mr. Dinesh.
